Economics Activity: Where Economics Meet Sports Objective: To help Grade 12 Economics students understand key concepts like Budget, its objectives, Revenue Receipts, Capital Receipts, Revenue Expenditure, and Capital Expenditure through a fun and engaging sports-based activity. Activity Structure: 1. Classroom Session: Students start with reading, discussing, and presenting on Budget, Revenue and Capital Receipts, Revenue and Capital Expenditure. 2.Outdoor Sports-Based Learning: The activity transitions to the playground, where learning is combined with physical challenges. Rounds of the Activity: Round 1: Basketball Task: Two students from each team must shoot two balls into the basket. Next Step: After scoring, they collect a crossword puzzle related to topic and complete it. Once finished, the team moves to the next round without waiting for others. Round 2: Hula Hoops Task: Two new students from each team perform 10 successful hula hoop rotations. Next Step: They then pick five chits and classify them as either Revenue Receipts or Capital Receipts. Round 3: Football Task: Two different students must score two goals. Next Step: After scoring, they collect a flowchart and fill it out based on concepts learned in class. Round 4: 50-Meter Run Task: Two remaining students will run 50 meters. Next Step: At the finish line, they collect a task sheet that involves identifying Revenue Expenditure and Capital Expenditure. Round 5: Final Task Task: The entire team assembles to solve a numerical problem based on the concepts of budget, expenditure, and receipts. Conclusion: Once all rounds are completed, one team member collects all task sheets. The team submits their completed work for evaluation.
