Grade VII students learned about the regional kingdoms of India. This History chapter has numerous names of kingdoms and their capitals, dynasties and kings, languages and literary works, battles and treaties, cultural and architectural legacies, and many more. It is challenging for learners to remember all these facts in the right order with correct spellings. To encounter this challenge a fun way of learning was planned in the form of a crossword activity. Students were divided into groups and asked to prepare a crossword by taking clues from the chapter. The crosswords were exchanged among the different groups to solve them. This simple yet engaging activity was a great experience for learners by which they were able to remember and retain the facts and the spellings of important words, develop logical skills, and work. Teachers also get a sense of satisfaction when they see students taking up ownership in the teaching-learning process.
