Grade V Math- Waldorf Flower Activity
Grade V students created Waldorf flowers to reinforce the concept of multiplication. These flowers are designed to display the multiplication tables in a unique way that offers the answer but makes the children work it out mentally rather than copying the number sentence straight from the display. The multiplication is in the center of the flower. The petals inwards are the number you are multiplying by and the petals outwards are the answers. This gives the children the answer but allows them to engage in cognitive thinking first. Students were engaged throughout the session and enjoyed the activity while learning the concept lifelong.
