Grade IV -Science Lab Activity - Filtration
Water is essential for life on earth. We get water from many sources, such as ponds, lakes, rivers and streams. In our homes, we get water through pipelines and taps. However tap water is usually dirty & needs to be cleaned properly before it can be used for drinking. Grade-IV students observed the lab activity demonstrated by their science teacher in the laboratory. The students observed how insoluble impurities are easily removed by the process of filtration by using filter paper. And To remove soluble impurities we either boil the water or use a distillation process. Distillation is a better process than boiling because water does not get wasted. This process gives the purest form of water called distilled water. Teaching water purification is not merely an academic activity; it has social and personal implications that can enrich students’ lives and shape them into informed, compassionate & empowered individuals.
