Gr III Math Activity -Exploring Shapes and Symmetry
The students of Grade III participated in a Math Lab activity on the topic: Exploring Shapes and Symmetry. Shapes are the building blocks of geometry, and symmetry plays a crucial role in identifying and creating patterns. Students brought small colorful cut-outs of various plane shapes. The teacher encouraged them to arrange the cut-outs to form designs of their choice. Later, they were asked to show the lines of symmetry in the shapes they had used. Students used their creative skills to transform the simple plane shapes into stunning designs of animals, insects, houses, boats, flowers, etc. They learned how shapes can come together to form symmetrical designs. This was a wonderful representation of creativity and mathematical concepts coming together.
