Field trips offer priceless learning opportunities that go beyond the confines of a conventional classroom environment. To give students the chance to experience real-world settings, the students of Grade IX and X of Amanora School had gone on a field trip at Aga Khan Palace on 29 November 2023 and 30 November 2023 respectively. The Aga khan Palace Pune is a national monument of India's freedom movement. Built in 1892 by Sultan Aga Khan III. This graceful building was where Mahatma Gandhi and other prominent nationalist leaders were interned by the British following Gandhi’s Quit India campaign in 1942. The students took a sneak peek into the rooms where the Mahatma used to stay. They explored a number of paintings and pictures depicting different stages of Indian life and struggle for independence. Kasturba Gandhi, the Mahatma’s wife, and Mahadeo bhai Desai, his secretary for 35 years, died here in confinement. The students had an opportunity of visiting the Samadhis dedicated to Kasturba Gandhi and Mahadev Desai situated in the Palace premises. The two samadhis are placed next to some of the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi. After having a look at these great landmarks of history, they had a good time in the beautiful garden spread across the premises, where Ms Neelam Mahajan the guide spoke to the students about the history of Aga Khan Palace, it was like the firsthand information as Ms Neelam was born and bought up in the palace as it was a residential school before it was transformed into a museum. This field trip indeed helped the students better understand the history and culture of Aga Khan palace. The trip proved that a multisensory learning experience can bring one dimensional lessons to life and create enthusiasm for a subject that is hard to replicate through other media. ""
