Our motto, "Learning by doing," inspired this engaging activity where Grade II students were encouraged to put on their thinking caps and create different combinations of single-digit numbers that add up to 10. Enthusiastically, the students explored various combinations, writing these on petals to form an "Addition Flower." This hands-on activity not only reinforced their understanding of addition but also introduced them to mental math concepts suitable for their grade level. By reusing the addition flower, students learned how to apply this method to find combinations for any number. The activity seamlessly integrated Math and Environmental Science (EVS). While students worked on their addition flowers, the teacher asked questions about what they were creating and where flowers could be found. The discussion extended to life skills, such as the importance of not plucking flowers and leaves. This approach enriched the students' knowledge about plants while reinforcing their math skills. Overall, the addition flower activity offered a multifaceted learning experience, combining mathematical practice with environmental awareness in a fun and interactive way. ""
